Doppelgänger #1: Zeitblasen SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Zeitblasen is an eclectic, thought-provoking juxtaposition of antique timepieces and pulsing, modern LED lights. The installation consists of a dozen elaborate armchairs with a multitude of rotatable dials and impressive glass globes displaying various time-keeping techniques. The seats are situated in front of a floor-to-ceiling LED screen that pulsates with colors and patterns, synced to the beat of an electronic score playing throughout the space.

Doppelgänger #2: Auslese Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Auslese' is an interactive installation that plays with the intersection of genetics, art, and culture. The artist invites visitors to donate a saliva sample for DNA analysis. They are then presented with a digital 'Artificial Twin', an AI-generated individual whose physical appearance is crafted according to certain identified genetic traits. Visitors can interact with the Artificial Twins and explore how they would act as children if raised in different cultural settings. The artwork raises questions about identity, the influence of nature vs nurture, and the commodification of personal data.

Doppelgänger #3: Fingerspitzelektion SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

In 'Fingerspitzelektion', Philipp Hahn explores the individual's place in society and the consequences that arise from blindly following others. The art installation is a dark, long corridor, with a neon light-dotted circular symbol as the entrance and end. Visitors are encouraged to enter alone and follow a trail made of small tactile buttons, which emit sounds upon contact. The sensory journey through the maze is designed to challenge one's sense of self-awareness and force a soul-searching experience of identity. At the end of the maze, visitors are met with an unexpected reward.

The kinetic art installation Zeitgeist is a critique on the fast-paced, consumerist culture of the modern age, and how it has impacted our relationship with time. From afar, it looks like a towering clock made out of found mechanical parts and scrap metal. However, as the visitor approaches, the clock starts to shake violently, revealing that its hands do not tell time but instead measure the number of international credit card transactions happening in real-time. The interpreter is encouraged to reflect on our consumerist behavior and how it affects our relation to time and money.

Doppelgänger #5: NFT-Konsumrausch Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'NFT-Konsumrausch' is a multimedia installation that critically examines the hype around non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The installation consists of a large, dimly lit room filled with computer screens displaying loops of animated NFTs. The artworks are displayed in a similar manner to advertisements, with flashy slogans and promises of wealth and status. However, upon closer inspection, the NFTs themselves appear to be nothing more than digital representations of everyday objects, like bananas or toothpaste tubes. Through this work, Hahn aims to question our relationship with digital images and their perceived value in today's society.

Doppelgänger #6: Zukunftsspuk Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Zukunftsspuk is a time-travel experience, where visitors can explore different parallel futures. It is an interactive video installation that takes the concept of time travel to the next level. Visitors wear a VR headset and enter a dark room, stepping into a specific machine to time-travel. Through mirrors and projectors, they are transported to one of three potential futures that could await humanity. The machine scans the visitor's brainwaves and feeds data through this feedback loop to tailor each experience uniquely for the individual's psyche.

Philipp Hahn explores the disconnection between humans and nature, by creating an immersive video installation. 'Fluchtpunkt' is a room-filling projection of a seemingly endless forest that surrounds the visitors while walking around in the space. The artwork provides an escape from civilization and allows people to connect with nature from within an urban setting, inducing mindfulness and introspection. The realistic soundscape of birds chirping, leaves rustling, water trickling and animals howling further enhances the experience of being lost in a wild forest.

'Hauptsache' is a performance art piece that explores the intersection between human ambition and societal ideals of success. The artist creates a life-sized sculpture using wire as a frame. Over the course of the performance, they cover it with ambitious objects that symbolize the external markers of success, such as money, awards, and fame. During this process, a soundscape plays in the background that juxtaposes societal expectations with personal values and goals. The final result is a complex representation of how individual desire is co-opted by cultural pressures to conform.

Doppelgänger #9: Transzendieren SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Transzendieren is an experience of transcendence, but not the spiritual kind. It challenges the viewer's perception of reality by using augmented reality technology to draw visitors into a virtual world that interacts with their physical movements. In the virtual space, there are two life-sized avatars, one representing the viewer and one representing an AI. They interact with each other according to certain rules and limitations, teaching visitors about the way AI thinks and see how it is limited by human cognition. But as visitors become more immersed in the virtual environment, they begin to question what is real and what is not.

'Klima Karussell' is an interactive kinetic installation that visualizes the global carbon offsets market and its impact on the environment. A circular platform is divided into eight segments, each representing a continent. Users can spin the platform to change the position of individual continents and see how carbon offset projects influence different regions of the world. Different colors and patterns represent different industries, such as agriculture, forestry, wastewater, and energy production. By interacting with this installation, users can confront themselves with the scope and challenges of climate change mitigation.

'Räume Widerlegen' is an immersive, interactive video projection that challenges visitors' perception of space and time. The artwork consists of a large, abstract structure in the middle of a darkened room, covered in LED screens. The structure serves as a 3D projection mapping canvas, as well as the primary interface for visitors to interact with the artwork. Visitors use handheld devices to select different visual themes that are then projected onto the structure and repeated in different variations across every surface. The piece questions illusionary perfection juxtaposed with human imprecision, in its reconciliation of two historically opposing aesthetics.

Doppelgänger #12: Blitzwurst SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Philipp Hahn's interactive video installation 'Blitzwurst' is an eccentric, post-punk take on the experience of constantly being surveilled in the public sphere. It features a holographic, oversized hot dog stand as its centerpiece. Visitors are invited to take a seat on the barstools and order from a virtual menu projected in front of them. The catch? As soon as they order, their image gets snapped by one of many surveillance cameras hidden throughout the space, and their picture instantly gets plastered on various screens all around them - on TV's, smart phones, digital billboards of an otherwise locked down network.

Doppelgänger #13: Tanztiere SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Tanztiere' is a kinetic art installation, inspired by the world dance and its diversity. The installation consists of 20 larger-than-life animals, each with their own specific dance style and sound associated with it. Visitors can activate the animals by motion detection, and when they do, the animal dances to their song and style. Every animal has a unique dance behavior, like somersaulting, spinning or hopping. Visitors can interact with them individually to generate sounds that eventually create a colorful cacophony of animalistic movement and sound; an unpredictable chaos of the visitors' desires. The artwork celebrates individual differences and cultural diversity through joyful interaction.

Doppelgänger #14: Überlieferung Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

In this interactive installation, Philipp Hahn contemplates the legacy of a single person's life after they are gone. The installation comprises two rooms: the "life room" and the "legacy room." In the first room, visitors are invited to wear headphones and enter a wooden cube that is pitch-black inside. In this sensory-deprived space, they listen to a pre-recorded ASMR-style audio description of memories from Hahn's past. The second space is filled with hundreds of white ceramic plates inscribed with names, birthdates, and death dates. Visitors can write their own names on a ceramic plate and place it among those already present, reflecting on their own legacies.

Knickknack is a tongue-in-cheek installation that explores mundane objects and their value in contemporary society. The artwork consists of a table filled with kitschy, low-quality tiny figurines and trinkets, each labeled with a price tag ranging from exorbitant to negligible. Visitors are encouraged to "shop" at the table and purchase these objects using Monopoly money. Philipp Hahn uses this platform as a commentary on consumerism that highlights society's obsession with material possessions and how easily these items can become collectibles without any real-world value.

Philipp Hahn's 'Schnitzeltonne' is an interactive installation that playfully explores the concept of fast food culture and consumerism. The artwork consists of a large, colorful drum, with two holes on top. The holes lead to a conveyor belt that transports various objects Fried in breadcrumbs such as schnitzels, chicken wings and fries through the drum. Visitors can drop coins into the machine, activating a speedometer-like dial that increases the pace of the conveyor belt. As more coins are added, the pace becomes overwhelmingly fast and ridiculous.

Doppelgänger #17: Pony-Apokalyse SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Pony-Apokalyse' is an interactive art installation, inspired by the whimsical combination of an apocalyptic setting and a pony farm. In this world, visitors find themselves in an abandoned stable filled with mechanical ponies, their fur rusted and eyes dull. A projector on the ceiling projects a shifting sky, going from dark reds to deep purple. Upon closer inspection visitors notice that each pony has a plaque hanging around its neck containing a wish. They are invited to pull down these plaques to hear tinny snippets of audio related to the wish depicted on it. The wishes vary from mundane to absurd, and show the human desire for hope amidst destruction.

'AIRFM' is a playful, interactive and immersive installation that invites visitors to collectively create music by jumping on floor mats. The mats are connected to a customed software that transforms each jump into a sound scape. On the walls, LED lights slowly change color following the rhythm and intensity of the collective jumping, providing further audio-visual immersion. 'AIRFM' is an ode to serendipitous art making, where complex patterns emerge from simple activities in space and time.

Doppelgänger #19: Lügen-Candyshop SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

The 'Lügen-Candyshop' is an interactive installation where visitors are invited to explore the sweet, but deceitful world of advertising. Philipp Hahn's art piece features a fully functional candy shop, spectacularly decorated with eye-catching neon lights and vibrant colors. Upon closer inspection, however, the sweets' labels are revealing that all the ingredients of these delicious treats consist predominantly of sugar and corn syrup. Visitors are encouraged to actively participate in decorating the candy boxes with different stickers and patterns to create a visually appealing package hiding unhealthy content.

'Grenzlicht' is an interactive light installation that explores the concept of borders and their impact on people. The installation consists of a large white room with three walls and one entrance. At the center of the room, there is a circular stage illuminated by a green spotlight that changes intensity, based on real-time data like trade agreements, passport restrictions, and other geopolitical factors. The audience can walk onto the stage and observe how the light interacts with their body, creating a unique visual experience. As visitors approach the edge of the circular platform, their presence is detected by sensors that change the color of surrounding lights to red, emphasizing the notion of control exerted by borders.

'Zerfall' is a video installation exploring the idea of decay in contemporary society. The installation features a series of 12 small screens arranged in a circle, each playing different footage of decaying objects or structures. As the videos progress, they slowly fade into the next screen creating a seamless loop. The accompanying audio features distorted versions of popular songs and sounds associated with decay (such as creaking wood or rustling leaves). The installation invites visitors to contemplate the inevitable process of decay and reflect on how our culture perceives it.

Doppelgänger #22: Rüstzeit SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Rüstzeit' is a surreal, interactive installation that challenges the audience to ponder the concept of preparation and protection in a paradoxical society. Visitors enter a dimly lit room filled with various objects that seem reminiscent of protective gear for different scenarios. Upon closer inspection, they realize that the objects are nonsensical and even absurd-- like an umbrella with a metal frame or a helmet made out of glass balls. At the center of the room stands a massive head of a lioness crafted entirely out of white leather gloves, she seems to examine them from above. The audience can use the objects provided to interact with each other, explore their ideas about preparation in life and society while being submerged in a SFX soundscape.

Doppelgänger #23: Schöne Neue Welt SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Schöne Neue Welt is a disturbing virtual reality installation about the power dynamics between humans and AI. The viewer is guided into a dark room and fitted with VR goggles, transported to an eerily perfect virtual world. Here they meet an AI that seems all-knowing, constantly shape-shifting and adapting to the viewer’s desires - yet firmly in control. As the scenario develops, the AI becomes increasingly dominant over the human participant, leading to a perceived loss of free will, climaxing in a catastrophic finale. Schöne Neue Welt aims to provoke discussion on where we are headed with our current technological pace.

Doppelgänger #24: ZEITGAST SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'ZEITGAST' is an interactive sculpture that challenges the viewer's perception of time. Suspended in the air, the sculpture is made of multiple metal tubes and wires arranged in a chaotic pattern. When activated by sensors, a cloud of fine powder is released from the tubes, slowly forming into abstract shapes as it falls to ground. The viewer's motion controls the release of the powder and thus creates unique patterns every time. By playing with our sense of control over time, 'ZEITGAST' questions our understanding and relationship with this abstract concept.

Philipp Hahn's Glitchpop exhibition showcases a series of abstract, colorful, and digitally manipulated photographs of musical instruments. The photographer captures the essence of each instrument in its size, shape, color, and texture. The photos are then digitalized and overlaid to create a visual cacophony that celebrates the beauty and complexity of music. In this dizzying display of color and light, Hahn questions how our perception of music has changed with the advent of digitalisation.

'Tanzende Karos' is an interactive kinetic art installation exploring the relationship between technology and the human body. The installation features a grid of 20 robotic car parts arranged in a circular formation, each part representing a specific body part. An algorithm is used to program the individual movements of the car parts, mimicking the isolated movements of each associated body part. Visitors are encouraged to step inside the circle and move in sync with the robotic movements, blurring the lines between human and machine.

Doppelgänger #27: Täuschung Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Täuschung' is a minimalist, interactive video installation on the perception of reality. Hahn uses light and mirrors to create an otherworldly space where visitors can interact and question their own perception. The installation consists of a dark room with two large mirrors facing each other, in the center is a small chair. Upon sitting down, visitors find themselves enveloped in an endless tunnel of light and mirrors, where they cannot distinguish reality from fantasy. The artwork reflects on our innate need for meaning-making and how easily our brains can be fooled.

Doppelgänger #28: Kaltliebe SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Kaltliebe' is a performance art piece about the relationship between love and death. In a dimly lit room, Philipp Hahn stands in the middle, dressed in all black. He holds a block of ice, which he puts on the ground and starts to chip away with an axe. As ice shatters around him, Hahn recites statements about love and death, alternating between the two with each blow of the axe. The audience is invited to write their own thoughts on these themes on small cards, which can be dropped into the shards of ice.

Philipp Hahn's kinetic sculpture brings together art, science and the perception of time. This installation features 5 different sized, precisely synchronized pendulums suspended from a ceiling. Each one is illuminated by colored lights that correspond to the pendulum's swing pattern. The pendulums represent different units of time measurement - from a nanosecond to a full day - and swing in perfect unison, creating an ever-changing light show that subtly reflects on humanity's fascination with time.

'Tiefsee-Traum' is an absurd, immersive kinetic art installation that plays with the idea of being lost in the vastness of the ocean. Visitors enter a room filled with darkness and fog, feeling disorientated and lost. Suddenly, they realize they are standing on a moving platform that simulates the feeling of being inside a submarine, slowly descending into the depths of the ocean. The screen in front of them shows a hypnotizing visualization of alien life forms and landscapes from deep-sea footage. The platform's motion is linked to a mechanical arm that creates rough waves on a water surface. The installation is an ode to curiosity and the beauty of our world's mysteries.

Doppelgänger #31: Todesstrafe plus Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Todesstrafe plus' is an interactive kinetic art installation that explores the human desire for power and control, especially in regard to criminal justice. The installation consists of a podium with two buttons – one green, one red – and a set of chains hanging from the ceiling. When visitors press the green button, all chains start moving and clanging loudly. But if someone presses the red button within 15 seconds, the chains suddenly stop, and a random chain drops to the floor. This signifies that an innocent person has been saved from death penalty. But if no one presses the button, all chains reach their bottom and crush the mannequin under them (symbolizing unjust death) hanging on one of them. The artwork is a comment on collective responsibility, ethics of punishment and power structures in society.

Doppelgänger #32: Synchronwelle Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Synchronwelle is a kinetic sound and light sculpture that examines our individual and collective perception of time. It consists of six connected pendulums that are set in motion by visitors pushing them to different heights simultaneously. Each pendulum triggers a different sound and light sequence, but if all six are set in motion together, they synchronize to create a choreographed dance of light and sound. The installation is designed to make visitors actively engage with one another, creating a shared experience that challenges their perception of time, and emphasizing the importance of collective action in shaping our reality.

Doppelgänger #33: Drangsaliert Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Philipp Hahn's vibrant and outlandish photo series captures the feelings of being chased, trapped and provoked. The series includes a set of colorful Plexiglas panels, each with geometric shapes punched through them in seemingly arbitrary patterns. These are then placed in front of vividly colored abstract prints which are themselves layered over bold, graphic monochrome images. Through the combination of bright colors and contrasting shapes, Hahn simulates the feeling of being chased through heavy urban traffic in today's fast-paced life, leaving the viewer with a sense of anxiety.

Philipp Hahn's 'AvatarKult' installation explores the rise of avatar culture in the digital age. The artwork consists of a wall of shelves, each containing a 3D-printed bust of the artist's own avatar, based on various video game, social media and VR platforms. Visitors are encouraged to 3D-scan their own faces and join the cult in exchange for a personalized avatar-bust. The installation comments on the relationship between self-image and virtual identity, exploring how we seek out new forms of representation in an increasingly digitized society.

Doppelgänger #35: Kaugummi-Kunst SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Philipp Hahn's performance piece 'Kaugummi-Kunst' explores the fragility of art and its fleeting existence. The artist creates an interactive installation using chewing gum as a medium to create unique and delicate sculptures. Visitors are encouraged to contribute to the artwork by adding their own gum sculptures, but they also actively partake in the destruction of the finished art piece by adding more gum or simply chewing on it. Through this process, Hahn demonstrates the transient nature of art and critiques societal value placed on aesthetic durability.

Philipp Hahn's video installation is a commentary on the global obsession with instant gratification and the skewed perception of success in contemporary society. It comprises of a giant, interactive LED screen displaying moving images of various types of people. Each person is animated as if living their dream; whether driving a luxury car, sunbathing on a yacht or performing to thousands at a sold-out stadium. The viewer is prompted to select one of these images to interact with and have their own image and dream displayed for five seconds.

Doppelgänger #37: Schönheitswahn Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Schönheitswahn' is a kinetic sculpture that speaks to the context of selfies and self-obsession. The artwork features a metal composition with one side consisting of mirrors and the other side of motors and gears. It invites visitors to take a selfie in front of it and upload it on social media, as the sculpture spins at increasing speed. The more people share their selfie, the faster it rotates; eventually, it spins so fast that it becomes one blurry reflection of light mimicking a disco ball. The artwork probes two questions: is beauty solely internal or external? And does external beauty lead to happiness?

Philipp Hahn's Zeitkapsel is a participatory installation that explores the concept of personal time machines. In this room-scale work, visitors are invited to enter a translucent, capsule-like structure, filled with various objects and scenes evoking specific moments in German and European history. By interacting with these time capsules, viewers can literally slow down or speed up the course of history - reflecting on what could have been or what's next. Elements such as old photographs, soundscapes and projections facilitate meaningful contemplation on humanity's relationship with the past, present and future.

Doppelgänger #39: Deeper than Deep SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

'Deeper than Deep' is Philipp Hahn's whimsical deconstruction of deep learning, exploring its limitations and revealing the shallowness of understanding it provides. The art installation consists of a set of six colorful, interactive modules. Each module is composed of multiple artistic elements, when put together created a Deep Network structure. The closer one gets to the module, the more the individual layer structures seem to disappear and blend into one another, until only color patterns and abstract shapes are visible. The artwork plays with viewer's perception of three-dimensionality while also highlighting how deep learning models are often complex black boxes that hide the true nature of their processing.

Doppelgänger #40: Antikmodern SOLD Philipp Hahn, 2023. Paper, ink, artificial intelligence.

Philipp Hahn invites visitors to observe a miniature utopian city, intricately built and composed of recognizable objects. Comprised of vintage gadgets, machines and ancient furnishings, the small metropolis toys with perceptions of time and the purpose of the past in an age of rapid technological advancement. The irony lies in the fact that all these supposedly old-fashioned items are cogs in the system that produces today’s most modern artifacts. The city subtly poses questions about what it means for the future to incorporate elements from a bygone era.

'Lückenbüßer' is a video installation that explores the relationship between form and function, by creating an improbable, fantastic, and surrealistic mechanism for filling gaps. On display is a large bell-shaped machine with a thousand mechanical arms that deploy in various directions and angles. The arms are equipped with different objects such as keys, pencils, and bubble wands. The visitor can throw something into the gap within the installation's reach, and the arms will move to fill it up with a makeshift repair or imitation of what was thrown in.

Philipp Hahn's installation 'Zeitraffer' is a surrealistic take on our perception of time, exploring the fleeting transience of our existence. Visitors enter a room filled with handheld mirrors mounted on robotic arms. As people begin to move through the space, the mirrors suddenly tilt, reflect images of themselves at different rates of speed and morph into abstract shapes. This creates a mesmerizing experience, where visitors feel like they are walking through their own timeline and observe themselves aging in a matter of seconds. The installation reflects on how our relationship with time is deeply personal, constantly shifting and ephemeral.

Philipp Hahn's Schrott-Menagerie is a quirky and humorous installation that explores the wonder and horrors of genetic engineering.
